Mechanics professors featured in RUB Dossier on the topic "Bodies"

30.04.2020

When you think of bodies, you might not think that engineers are concerned with them - except maybe with steel bodies, solid bodies, hollow bodies and concrete bodies.

Mechanics professors Daniel Balzani and Klaus Hackl, however, are also concerned with the human body. They create computer simulations about the behavior of elastic tissues such as blood vessels and thus help to optimize treatments against vasoconstriction.

While Prof. Balzani and his team focus on calculating the risk of possible damages in advance, Prof. Hackl and his team focus on the healing of injured vessels. Which methods they use and which insights have already been achieved can be read in the dossier on the subject "Bodies" in the RUB News ((https://news.rub.de/wissenschaft/2020-04-30-mechanik-gefaessverengungen-behandeln-oder-nicht).
