Last Friday, December 03, 2021, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering invited to the annual Academic Year Celebration. Due to the pandemic, the ceremony was transmitted live from the Audimax via zoom. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rüdiger Höffer, Vice Dean of the Faculty, and UI master student Kiara Stein hosted the event.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to put their engineering knowledge to the test in an interactive quiz - from explosive experiments with concrete to a fir tree that was made to glow on site by means of a fuel cell, along with facts about the boundary layer wind tunnel and questions about Shared Space and foamed bitumen.
Selected students also received awards for their outstanding academic achievements from the virtual hands of renowned industry partners (ZPP Ingenieure AG, Kluge Sanierung GmbH, Niemann & Partner, EUROVIA), as well as the Wolfgang Teichgräber Award 2021.
Another highlight was featured by RUBy, the robotic dog of the Chair of Computing in Engineering, when she/he delivered one of the packages to the moderator duo, which the graduates of the academic years 2019/20 and 2020/21 had previously received by mail. Together with the graduates, the packages were opened in the Audimax and at home, followed by a virtual toast being made to the graduation.
We would like to thank the cellists Charlotte Hinn and Mathilda Overlöper for their musical accompaniment.
We wish all graduates the very best for the future and much success on their professional paths!
