Not exactly eye-catchers at the moment are the abandoned concrete buckets that sporadically flank the footpaths of the I row and were originally intended as trash cans. But something is happening to the buckets, as they are being redesigned into new favorite places as part of the reCYCL:ING project, an initiative of the PR team and the Faculty Dean's Office in collaboration with the RUB Sustainability Office and the Botanical Garden. Faculty members are invited to make the campus greener and a bit more sustainable by adopting a bucket.
The PR team of the faculty has already equipped two concrete buckets as a prelude in front of the lecture hall building HIB ("Sitting in the Sun") and on the bridge towards the entrance IC ("Smells like Green Spirit") with new plants and upgraded them with wooden benches. A total of about 15 more tubs are now available, which can be "adopted" and individually embellished by faculty members (chairs, student councils or mixed groups) as part of a tub sponsorship. The idea is to redesign the respective sponsored bucket according to the chair's interests - for example, a chair that deals a lot with concrete could design it with this material. Of course, concepts that are not related to a specific subject are also conceivable, such as the two that have already been implemented.
Interested parties can contact the PR team of the faculty at pr-bi@rub.de, where they will receive further information, such as an overview of the locations of the available tubs. Tools needed for gardening can also be borrowed there. The Dean's Office supports the upgrading of the concrete buckets with a financial donation.
