Last Friday, 25 November 2022, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering invited to the annual Academic Year Celebration, which this year again took place in the presence of the Audimax. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Knobloch, Dean of the Faculty, and Lisa Freiin von Rössing, Master's student in Computational Engineering, led the ceremony. After the ceremony, the guests met at a reception with DJ entertainment in the coffee bar of the RUB and thus ended the evening in a convivial atmosphere.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to put their engineering knowledge to the test in an interactive quiz - from questions on essential nutrients in urban water management to experiments in mechanics and building materials technology, as well as facts on the boundary layer wind tunnel and the recipe of foamed bitumen.
Selected students also received prizes for their special academic achievements from renowned industry partners (ZPP Ingenieure AG, Kluge Sanierung GmbH, Niemann Ingenieure GbR, EUROVIA Services GmbH) as well as the Wolfgang-Teichgräber Prize 2022. In addition, the Computation in Engineering & Digitisation Faculty Prize was awarded for the first time by Prorector Prof. Dr. techn. Günther Meschke.
Another highlight of the ceremony was the honouring of the nine graduates of the Computational Engineering programme who had travelled from abroad for the event. The programme is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, so Prof. Dr. Klaus Hackl and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rüdiger Höffer also offered the audience insights into the beginnings of the programme.
As the next highlight, RUBy, the robot dog of the Department of Computing in Engineering, danced in the Audimax hall and presented the moderating duo with a graduate hat, which also heralded the honouring of the graduates of the 2021/22 academic years.
We would like to thank the Sarah Mesenbrock Trio and Clapsparrow for their musical accompaniment.
We wish all graduates all the best for the future and much success on their professional paths!
