In the nationwide competition "Built on IT - Construction Professions with a Future", the Bochum-based start-up VSK.software, which was created on the basis of research work at the Chair of Computing in Engineering, wins the special start-up prize with its product BIMpermit.
The rule-based verification of BIM models is essential for quality assurance in BIM processes. With BIMpermit, the Bochum-based start-up VSK.software has now developed a solution that combines the formal and technical verification of digital models for building data modelling (BIM models) in a web-based software. This makes it possible for building planners, architects and public authorities to carry out a simple and transparent check of building models with regard to regulations, accessibility and the technical correctness of the design.
"BIMpermit is characterised on the one hand by the fact that sets of rules, such as a building code, can be digitised and automatically checked; on the other hand, new rules can be created very easily and without programming knowledge," explains André Vonthron, founder of VSK.software and former employee of the Chair of Computing in Engineering.
The start-up VSK.software was founded in 2021 based on research work at the Chair of Computing in Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum. The founding team was supported by the Worldfactory Start-up Center, especially for the first pitches, the business plan and for networking with important contacts.

The award ceremony for the nationwide competition "Built on IT - Construction Professions with a Future" took place during the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials, systems (BAU) in Munich. The competition is under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and honours digital solutions in the construction industry. The special Start-up prize is worth 2,000 euros.
