On the occasion of her visit to the Chair of Computer Science in Civil Engineering on 20th April 2023, the faculty was pleased about an inspiring exchange between the Minister for Home, Municipal Affairs, Construction and Digitalisation of the State of NRW, Mr.s Ina Scharrenbach, and the, holder of the Chair of Computing in Engineering, Prof. Markus König.

During the meeting, approaches and potentials of the digitalisation of the construction industry were discussed, while focusing on the research strength of the chair in the areas of data management, automation, BIM and AI. Another important aspect in the discussion were building application and approval procedures. In particular, it was addressed how the municipalities in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia can be supported in the comprehensive digitalisation of the process.
