As part of the new project "BeGeBIM", the Chair of Computing in Engineering headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus König is working on accelerating the approval processes in road construction through digital models.
Wear and tear and a further increase in traffic load are vehemently straining roads and bridges in Germany. Often, renovations or new constructions in road construction cannot be implemented as quickly as they are needed. In order to speed up the lengthy approval procedures, the project participants now want to develop digital, model-based solutions. The Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport is funding the project with around 1.13 million euros.
The project is coordinated by the company Schüßler-Plan Digital GmbH from Düsseldorf. In addition to the Ruhr-Uni Bochum, the Federal Highway Authority in Leipzig and the Federal Autobahn GmbH are also involved in the project.
