The Voluntary Scientific Year is a one-year educational program - comparable to the Federal Voluntary Service - for selected high school graduates. It provides an insight into current research projects in the engineering and economics faculties as well as the opportunity to take part in university programs. The application deadline is April 30, 2024.

The target group for the FWJ are high school graduates and prospective students who do not know yet whether studying is the right option for them. Lectures and seminars from the entire RUB subject spectrum can be attended and, if interested, initial examinations can be taken. In addition, the FWJ students work on exciting research projects of the participating chairs in form of an internship.

Participants receive a monthly allowance of 400 euros for the Voluntary Scientific Year.
