The language tandem program Tandem.MINT enables students of scientific and technical courses to learn languages individually and subject-related: In exchange with tandem partners who speak the target language as their mother tongue or at a high level, foreign language skills can be expanded and intercultural communication skills can be tested.

The participants practise the foreign language in realistic situations and thus become more confident in using the language in everyday life and at university. The fact that the tandem partners are also studying a scientific or technical subject gives participants the opportunity to establish a connection to their studies, test their language skills in a specialist context and acquire specialist vocabulary.

Participation in the language tandem can therefore be helpful in preparing for a study-related stay abroad. Participants also learn how to work together in a multilingual, multicultural team - so they acquire key skills for the globalized world of work while still studying.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate confirming your participation and the content of the tandem. Alternatively, it is possible to have your participation credited with 3 CP via the ZFA.

As a student of a STEM degree program at RUB, you can register for participation in the winter semester 2024/25 until October 13, 2024. Prerequisites are knowledge of the target language at least at level B1 (for languages such as Arabic, Chinese or Russian: level A2) and knowledge of the source language at native speaker or similarly high level (at least C1).

As the tandem takes place digitally or hybrid, you can also take part if you are not currently in Germany.
