That was "Türen auf mit der Maus 2024"

08.10.2024

Maustag 2024 - Kostüm

As part of the “Türen auf mit der Maus 2024" (WDR) campaign day on October 3, 2024, 100 little mouse fans visited the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and were given child-friendly insights into everyday engineering with lots of exciting opportunities to ask questions, try things out and do it themselves.

Several chairs of the Faculty invited the little mouse fans into their laboratories, which are not normally easily accessible to the public, to experiment, build or even make a souvenir of the Mouse Day. Elephants could be built out of concrete, DIY boats made from wine corks could be made to sail in the tipping channel and Playmobil men could be protected from storms in the boundary layer wind tunnel.

In addition, a varied course of hands-on activities provided further entertainment. At the “Driving School” station, young visitors were rewarded with a mouse driving license after completing a driving route with traffic circles, parking lots and traffic lights. In the “Construction site” area, various bridges were built from different materials and small experiments were carried out to learn more about balance and center of gravity. In the Mouse Cinema, the guests got their first taste of a lecture hall. The course was rounded off with a bridge quiz, an XXL Yenga with a corresponding construction site outfit and a painting station.

On “Türen auf mit der Maus” day, children and families all over Germany can experience factual stories live with free admission. On October 3, several hundred institutions, companies, research laboratories, associations and workshops will open doors that would otherwise remain closed to children and behind which there will be something exciting to discover. You can find more information about the day of action at www.wdrmaus.de.
