Water Science Alliance Flörke

Under the newly elected leadership of Prof. Martina Flörke from the Chair of Engineering Hydrology and Water Resources Management (RUB) and Prof. Florian Leese (University of Duisburg-Essen), the German Water Research Alliance is developing a career navigator for young scientists in water research.

The Water Science Alliance (WSA) moved its headquarters from the Technical University of Dresden to the Centre for Water and Environmental Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2023. The new dual leadership of the WSA with the participation of Prof. Martina Flörke, Head of the Chair of Engineering Hydrology and Water Management, has been able to acquire funding of 100,000 euros for the promotion of young scientists from the Bernhard and Ursula Plettner Foundation. This funding will now be used to establish a career navigator. With the help of the navigator, young scientists from the field of water research will be given the opportunity to better prepare themselves for current and future challenges in science and teaching, for example by participating in conferences, workshops or mentoring programmes.
